What to wear?

Let me start off by saying that I am no fashionista.  I have my own, ever-charnging style, and really can't keep up with the latest trends.  That being said, I often get asked the question "What should we wear for the photo shoot?".

Here is what I tell my clients...

Fall sessions outside - light blues, beige, browns, and grays for adults.  Flannel with cute layers for the kiddos.  Reason: The leaves provide plenty of color and adding much more will make the image look busy.  Also, wearing light colors works best with your skin tone... i.e. a red shirt might cast a pinkish hue.

Winter session inside/outside - you can opt for a bit more color here but don't overdo it.  Use your accessories to add the pop of color...i.e. vests, hats, scarves, suspenders, jewelry, etc.
Reason: The backgrounds tend to be a bit more muted outside, and inside I use a cream background.  There won't really be competing colors in the scenes so you can have a bit more fun.

Footwear - Wear cute but comfy shoots!  As photographers, we are constantly looking for the best spot, best lighting, and outside those change rapidly.  While we try to keep you in one spot, there might be the occasional walk to get the "perfect shot" (and trust me, it will be worth it!)

So I hope this helps, and please ask questions if you have any!  I've added some examples so you can see what I mean.  Enjoy!
